March 20, 2013. The Appalachian Rollergirls, the local women's roller derby team, is hosting a "Be Your Own Superhero" dance party fundraiser on March 23. The event will be raising money for the Appalachian Rollergirls to rent a van to transport the team to compete against the Vette City Vixens in Kentucky at the Vette City Rollerderby being held on April 6 in Bowling Green, Ky. LUNAFEST; 12th Annual National Touring Film Festival Comes to Boone

Oct. 29, 2012. LUNAFEST, the fund raising film festival dedicated to promoting awareness about women's issues, highlighting women filmmaker and bringing women together in their communities, will be hosted by Earth Fare, Appalachian Women's Fund and Girls on the Run of the High Country.

Sept. 17, 2012. Volunteers are being sought for a research study of the effect of the supplement Wellmune WGP on immune function and anti-viral activity.
