June 10, 2013. The 2013 Watauga County Home & Garden Tour will feature seven total properties in the scenic Valle Crucis community, including both very large and very small homes, two active bed-and-breakfast establishments, and a valley-floor garden locally famous for sharing its produce.
April 19, 2013.The unique culture of Valle Crucis will be on display at Valle Crucis Community Park’s inaugural Rootsfest.
The festival, to be held on June 15, will feature live music, arts and crafts vendors, historical and educational displays and demonstrations, and activities for children of all ages.

Oct. 12, 2012. The Boone Country Dancers will host an old-time barn dance on Saturday, Oct. 13 at the Apple Barn in Valle Crucis. There is a beginner’s workshop starting at 7:30 p.m. where you can learn all the calls that will be used in the dances, even if you have two left feet.
Sept. 17, 2012. The Episcopal Church of the Holy Cross in Valle Crucis will celebrate the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi with a special Blessing of the Animals service Sunday, Oct. 7 at 3 p.m. in the Church’s lower parking located on State Road 194S.
Sept. 4, 2012. The first annual High Country Small Plate Crawl takes place Tuesday to Thursday, Sept. 4 to 6, and is sure to please the palate. Fifteen independent restaurants from Boone, Blowing Rock and Valle Crucis are participating in the three-day event.

Sept. 4, 2012. The Boone Country Dancers are hosting a Contra Dance at the Apple Barn on Saturday, Sept. 8. Noah Grunzweig is the caller for this dance and Dot Dot Dash is the band. All dances are taught, no partner is required and everyone is welcome. The beginner lesson starts at 7:30 p.m., and the dance is at 8 p.m.
Aug. 3, 2012. Contra is a mixed-age community dance, and there will be a lesson before the dance so you can learn. Great live music is always a part of the Apple Barn scene. The Boone Country Dancers are hosting a Contra Dance at the Apple Barn on Saturday, August 11.
