Final Step in U.S. 421 Widening Project; Motorists Should Expect Delays During Work Over Memorial Day Weekend

https://www.hcpress.com/?p=25722May 23, 2012. Motorists can expect slowdowns on U.S. 421 as NCDOT contractor Blythe Development puts down the final layer of pavement. This work is the final step in the widening of U.S. 421 from Hardin Street to N.C. 194 of downtown Boone that began in July 2009. The contractor will work over the entire Memorial Day weekend. The project is anticipated to be complete by mid-July.

Updates on Highway 321 Widening Project in Blowing Rock, Road to be Closed at Times During Blasting

Feb. 24, 2012. BLOWING ROCK — Construction crews continue to clear along U.S. 321 in Blowing Rock as part of the widening project. The majority of work is taking place along “Area I,” which is the U.S. 321 business corridor from the U.S. 321/North Main Street intersection at Shoppes on the Parkway to U.S. 321/South Main Street intersection at Broyhill Home Furnishings at 8486 Valley Boulevard. Some of this work may cause short travel delays.
