Award-winning musical ‘Rent’ to be presented Dec. 9 by Appalachian Musical Theatre Ensemble

Dec. 4, 2012. The highly acclaimed musical “Rent” will make its regional premiere at Appalachian State University Dec. 9 with two performances, at 2 and 8 p.m., in Rosen Concert Hall by the newly formed Appalachian Musical Theatre Ensemble. This is the first time “Rent” has been produced in the High Country. Appalachian’s production involves more than four dozen students in the cast, crew and live orchestra, representing 18 different academic majors from across the university.

North Carolina Theater Conference Comes to WHS

Oct. 31, 2012. Watauga High School will welcome more than 250 high school actors from 11 different schools at the annual North Carolina Theatre Conference Regional High School Play Festival this Friday and Saturday Nov. 2 and 3. The high school’s honors acting class, the Pioneer Playmakers, along with more than 80 volunteers, will help run 14 one-act plays over the course of the two days. The festival is free.
