In Dec. 2013, AffordableCollegesOnline.org analyzed online degree programs from more than 2,000 accredited colleges and universities across the nation. Lees-McRae ranked no. 6 out of 30 for affordability in North Carolina with a list including top institutions such as Duke University, East Carolina University, Campbell University and many others. Students and Their Families Urged to Get Immunized Before Start of New School Year; Free Options Available

Aug. 2, 2012. North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Al Delia today urged parents to immunize their children and other adult family members against infectious diseases such as pertussis, commonly known as whooping cough, which continues to be on the rise across the country. School aged children have only weeks to receive the shots they need before going back to school. In North Carolina schools, immunization records are checked at the beginning of each school year, with a special emphasis at the start of kindergarten and at the start of sixth grade. Read more...

Watauga County Board of Education Holding Convocation Friday to Prep Employees for New Year

Aug. 1, 2012. Members of the Watauga County Board of Education will attend a convocation Friday morning in the Watauga High School auditorium to discuss loose plans, outline, hopes and goals for the upcoming school year. The meeting will also give new Superintendent David Kafitz the opportunity to introduce himself to school personnel he hasn't had to chance to meet. Read more...
