Oct. 29, 2012. The Appalachian State University’s Recreation Management program is hosting its fourth annual Black Saturday 5k on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012 from 8 a.m. to raise money for its academic scholarship fund. The race starts and ends at the Holmes Convocation Center, leading participants through the heart of Appalachian State’s beautiful campus.
June 19, 2012. The 14th annual Blood Sweat & Gears (BSG) bicycle race, presented by Mast General Store, will take place Saturday June 23 at the Valle Crucis Elementary School, approximately 5 miles south of Boone.

May 30, 2012. The High Country Triple Crown, a series of three challenging races through mountain terrain, will be held in the coming months. All proceeds will go to the Girls on the Run of the High Country.

Feb. 20, 2012. GRANDFATHER MOUNTAIN, NC – This May, the inaugural “Critter Crawl” kicks off at Grandfather Mountain. The 5K race begins in MacRae Meadows and ends at the top of Grandfather. All proceeds will directly benefit upcoming renovations to the Grandfather Mountain eagle habitats.
