Photos: Second Annual Boone Heritage Festival

Oct. 15, 2012. The second annual Boone Heritage Festival took place on Saturday to celebrate the heritage of the High Country. The Watauga County Farmers’ Market and the Town of Boone’s sixth annual “Fun in the Park Day” at the Jaycee Park also took place in the vicinity of the festival. With the multiple events happening at the same time, folks were able to run some errands at the market, let the kids play in the park and enjoy some of the traditions on display at the Boone Heritage Festival. Second Boone Heritage Festival Celebrates Appalachian Traditions at Hickory Ridge Today: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Oct. 4, 2012. The outdoor Boone Heritage Festival takes place on Saturday, Oct. 13, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the 35-acre wooded setting of the Hickory Ridge Living Museum on Horn in the West Drive.

Songwriters and Storytellers Take to the Porch at this Friday’s Concert at the Jones House

Aug. 7, 2012. Songwriters ad storytellers will take to the porch this Friday, as the Town of Boone continues with the 2012 Concerts at the Jones House series. Musical groups will include Sound Traveler and Lisa Baldwin and Dave Haney, and storytellers will include Orville Hicks and Charlotte Ross.

Benefit for Ted Hicks – Son of Esteemed Storyteller Ray Hicks – at Matney Community Center Sat., April 21

April 9, 2012. A concert benefit for Ted Hicks, son of the world-famous Appalachian storyteller, Ray Hicks, and a fine storyteller in his own right, will be held at the Matney Community Center on Saturday, April 21, at 2:00 p.m. Among those performing are Orville Hicks and Glen Bollick, both fine musicians and storytellers.
