May 30, 2013. Summertime in the High Country means fresh local produce, soft artisan breads, right-from-the farm eggs and much more. Farmers’ markets all around the mountain region are gearing up for the 2013 summer to share their local wares with the residents and visitors that eagerly await the opening of the markets from the start of our famously harsh winters.

May 28, 2013. The Cash Mob first visited Earthwood Farm, a recently opened organic 2-acre hobby farm in Rutherwood. The farm has numerous unique and creative outbuildings and barns crafted by the owners themselves, often with recycled materials. Mobbers bought fresh eggs, herb plants, carrots, radishes, a variety of fresh lettuces, and handmade hypertuffa pots. Sept. 13, 2012. Plan to join High County Local First for their next Food for a Change Farm to Table Dinner coming up on Wednesday, Sept. 19. The dinner includes fresh clams from the Carolina coast, bass, trout, lots of local veggies and more.
Aug. 8, 2012. Local food has gotten a lot of press lately and for good reason. Sustainability, health and local economic strength are just a few of the positive effects that purchasing, preparing and consuming locally grown and raised produce, meat and grain products achieve.
May 28, 2012.Area non-profit High Country Local First will be increasing their efforts in driving area consumers to shop at independent local businesses this summer through their new, “Local First!” Rewards Card.
