As Horn in the West approaches its 2014 season, it will be looking for fresh faces to star in the nation’ oldest Revolutionary War drama. On Saturday, Feb. 22, the Southern Appalachian Historical Association (SAHA) will host auditions for approximately 50 parts for the popular summer attraction.

The start of a new year means brand new vendors present at the Watauga County Farmers’ Market. The market is currently accepting vendor applications for the 2014 Farmers’ Market season this summer. Each year, the board looks at the pool of applicants and decides which are most appropriate for the Farmers’ Market. Everyone who wants to be included must apply each year, even returning vendors from previous years.

Oct. 24, 2012. The Haunted Horn Ghost Trail is so spooky, organizers are certain the hikers will be glad to exit the trail before doom strikes. Located at Horn in the West, the Haunted Horn Ghost Trail opens at dusk and runs until enough spookiness has happened for the night.

Aug. 16, 2012. As the summer comes to a close and the leaves begin to change, life slows down a bit at “Horn in the West.” The amphitheater has closed its gates for the season and the cast and crew have packed their bags and are bidding farewell to their mountain home of the past three months.
July 10, 2012. The Daniel Boone Native Gardens hosts an “Evening in the Gardens.” Musicians will perform jazz and swing standards. Catered appetizers and a cash bar will occur at the scenic and public gardens, which feature a wide array of native trees, shrubs and wildflowers.

June 18, 2012. The Boone Kiwanis Club and Southern Appalachian Historical Association (SAHA) are opening a new free concert series tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Horn in the West Theater in Boone.

June 14, 2012. Horn in the West, a High Country institution, starts its 61st season Friday. Shows run each night until August 11, except for Mondays, beginning at 8 p.m.

May 4, 2012. The Watauga County Farmers’ Market will return to Horn in the West on Saturday, May 5, for the start of the 2012 season. The local bluegrass band Upright and Beathin’ will be providing live music for opening day. This year there are 75 vendor spaces. The Wednesday market, opening June 6, will also operate at Horn in the West this year.
