UPDATE: Weather Forces Changes to Appalachian State University’s Friday Homecoming Schedule

By Madison Fisler Lewis Update: The schedule of homecoming events for Friday, Oct. 10, has been changed due to the weather forecast. The Lip Sync finals and pep rally will be moved to their rain location inside the Holmes Convocation Center. The times will remain the same, with Lip Sync starting at 6 p.m. and the Pep Rally following at 8 p.m.  The bonfire and fireworks originally planned to follow the Pep Rally on Duck Pond Field have been cancelled. The High Country Tuple Crown running of The Knob and The Bonk remain on schedule as of now. Appalachian’s women’s soccer homecoming game against Troy University also remains on schedule as of now.  Sept. 26, 2014. Homecoming weekend for Appalachian State University is almost upon us. With the kickoff event, the 1,200 Pint Homecoming Blood Drive held earlier this week, the events lineup looks to be shaping up to be one of the best years yet as alumni, students, and other members of the Appalachian family prepare for the weekend themed “Home Sweet Home.” For most, the homecoming football game is the highlight of the weekend. Appalachian State Homecoming Festivities Kick Off Tomorrow; Mountaineers Face Off with Elon on Saturday

If you love Appalachian State University, as so many here in the High Country do, then this weekend is one of the best weekends of the year to sport your black and gold attire. ASU is holding their Homecoming events on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 5-6, and the weekend is slam-packed with Mountaineer events ranging from a run to the top of Howard’s Knob to a parade and, of course, the Homecoming ASU football game against Elon University. Homecoming kicks off Friday with the 50th annual Boyles CEO Lecture Series. The event takes place at 10 a.m. in Holmes Convocation Center. This year, the series will feature a panel of previous Boyles lecturers, including William R. Holland, former CEO of United Dominion; Robert Ingram, former CEO of GlaxoSmithKline; James Morgan, CEO of Krispy Kreme; and Bob Tillman, former CEO of Lowe’s. Later in the day Friday, the sixth annual Running of the Knob (a two-mile run to the top of Howards Knob) starts at 5:30 p.m. at the Watauga County Library. Lees-McRae College Invites Community to Participate in Homecoming Parade Oct. 6 on Main Street

Sept. 18, 2012. Lees-McRae College invites community businesses and organizations to participate in the annual Homecoming Parade on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 11 a.m. on Main Street in Banner Elk.  Join parade grand marshal Dr. David Burleson, Avery County Superintendent of Schools, and his wife, Beth, along with LMC President Barry Buxton, Avery County High School Band, bagpipes and drums, clowns, the alumni float, LMC athletic teams, Wily the Bobcat, Banner Elk Volunteer Fire Department, Avery EMS, campus clubs and organizations and more. The parade is part of Homecoming Weekend festivities including class reunions, NCAA soccer and volleyball, Athletics Hall of Fame induction ceremony and the Performing Arts production of Legally Blonde, the musical. Appalachian Homecoming 2012 to be Held Oct. 5-6

Sept. 12, 2012. Appalachian State University alumni are invited to celebrate “The Big Apple at 3,333 feet” at Homecoming Friday, Oct. 5, and Saturday, Oct. 6. Events include Friday night’s popular traditions, Saturday tailgating and football at Kidd Brewer Stadium. Pre-Homecoming events begin Sept. 26 with the 6th Annual ASU 1,000 Pint Homecoming Blood Drive.
