Feb. 29, 2012. BOONE — Welcome to our new website. Now you know where our newspaper has gone. I’ve taken the High Country Press to the World Wide Web. I think you’ll find everything here, on the Internet, that you were used to finding in our newsprint version – but believe me – there will be so much more. Our journalism will stay the same – our mission is to keep our community informed; to bring you news and information that keeps you in touch with friends and neighbors, to help you know more about our local organizations, government bodies and our schools, as well as celebrating all the things that makes the High Country our home. We hope you will become comfortable using our new Internet format that we’ll be using – to keep you up-to-date – as we carry on with our tradition of fine journalism and excellent presentation that the High Country Press has become known for.
The most exciting thing about our new website will be the ability to post news and information as it happens. As a story is developing, you can find out the latest details of what is happening here first. Also, as press releases and notices become available, we’ll add them to our website. All of our stories will first appear on our home page in chronological order, and as they reach the bottom of the page, the stories will then be sorted into file categories that will make it easy to find the subjects you are interested in.
On the Internet we can do so much more. We can add video. We can publish as many pictures as we want to help tell the story. You will have instant links to other sources of information. Plus, something everyone is doing these days, you can share information with your friends. And all of this is at your fingertips, anytime you want it.
We’re still building away on our new website; we have links and features we’re still connecting. And we’re getting up to speed on our content. We picked February 29 as our launch date because on this Leap Year Day, we thought it would be fitting to take the big leap into the 21st Century.
Please browse around our site – let us know what you think. Thanks for reading the High Country Press. And thanks for taking the leap with us.
