Dec. 5, 2012. Haircut 101 is proud to announce that we they be partnering with Santa’s Toy Box, in order to help families in need this holiday season. Santa’s Toy Box was started in 1986 by the men’s group at Deerfield Methodist Church, and since that time has become a community project.
July 20, 2012. After hearing multiple complaints from downtown merchants regarding parking increases in Town of Boone-owned lots, the Boone Town Council retracted its original 33 percent monthly increase and adopted a 10 percent increase instead.

July 12, 2012. According to recent invoices sent to downtown merchants, parking for lots owned by the Town of Boone – and contracted out to McLaurin Parking Company, monthly parking space rates will increase 33 percent – from $22.50 to $30.

May 15, 2012. Local salons, Haircut 101 and Shear Shakti, are teaming up with Boone Saloon for a Cut-a-Thon benefit on Wednesday, May 16, starting at 6 p.m., to support community members and friends, Serena Crawford and Jason Brown. Brown suffered a serious brain injury in late March which resulted in an extended time in ICU, hospitalization and now will continue recovery for as much as a year.

On Friday, March 23, Char will host the OASIS (Opposing Abuse with Service, Information and Shelter) Benefit Fashion Show starting at 6:30 p.m. The fashion show will incorporate “tribal” spring and summer fashions by Gladiola Girls. Hair and makeup will be done by Haircut 101.

Feb. 14, 2012. BOONE — Who has the hottest lips in town? The results are in! Local salon Haircut 101 took submissions of the hottest lips – imprints in lipstick on doilies – recently and the lips were judged by our own Ken Ketchie, editor, on Valentine’s Day.
