Aug. 15, 2012. More than 60 folks gathered at a Beech Mountain Town Council meeting to listen to comments about Festival of Gnarnia. The vast majority of residents speaking favored another festival next year. Others feel that maybe Gnarnia isn’t the right festival for Beech.

Aug. 13, 2012. Atop Beech Mountain Resort this weekend during Festival of Gnarnia, more than 150 people were arrested and more than 300 citations for alcohol and drugs were issued. Take into account those figures alongside the increased business during the weekend, and the week was both an upper and a downer.

Aug. 10, 2012. “It’s been interesting – to say the least.” Referring to The Festival of Gnarnia taking place until Sunday morning, that phrase is recurring among locals atop Beech Mountain. With an influx of 5,000 people, many of them tour kids from out of state who are following the festival circuit, Beech is experiencing a bit of a culture shock.
