Mountain City’s Heritage Hall Theatre Opens 2014 Season with the Barter Players’ “Little House on the Prairie”

Heritage Hall Theatre, Mountain City’s live performance venue, will open its 2014 season with the Barter Players’ production of “Little House on the Prairie” on Thursday, Feb. 20 at 7 p.m. Based on the classic books by Laura Ingalls Wilder and adapted for the stage by Pamela Stirling, the play follows the Ingalls family’s westward journey, a covered-wagon adventure through Indian territory and America’s Frontier.

Tunnel of Oppression Event Hosted by ASU Student Government Association on Dec. 6

Dec. 4, 2012. Appalachian State University’s Student Government Association will host a Tunnel of Oppression event on Dec. 6 from 5:30 – 10 p.m. to raise campus familiarity with issues related to cruelty and brutality. The public is invited. The SGA annually sponsors the event by gathering club volunteers to demonstrate negative acts of coercion through dramatizations.

Haircut 101 Holds Annual ‘Hot Lips Contest’

Feb. 14, 2012. BOONE — Who has the hottest lips in town? The results are in! Local salon Haircut 101 took submissions of the hottest lips – imprints in lipstick on doilies – recently and the lips were judged by our own Ken Ketchie, editor, on Valentine’s Day.
