July 19, 2012. Staff with Boone Public Works started renovations on the outside of the soon-to-be Doc Watson Appalachian Theatre Wednesday evening. This morning workers, standing on scaffolding with two-by-fours in hand, were constructing the beginnings of the theater marquee.

On Friday at 9:00 a.m., the Jones House Community Center hosts a special meeting with the Downtown Boone Development Association and the Appalachian Theater Committee to discuss the future of the theater.
