Beat the winter blues by coming out to enjoy the Stephenson Center for Appalachia’s Lecture Series at Lees-McRae College. The lectures begin on Thursday, Jan. 30 at 7 p.m. in Evans Auditorium with an illustrated talk by Dr. Scott Huffard, “The 1891 Wreck at Bostian’s Bridge and the Haunted History of Western North Carolina Railroad,” and run through the middle of April.
Dec. 10, 2012. The Brevard College women’s basketball team outscored Lees-McRae College by a 37-24 margin in the second half, overcoming a 33-26 halftime deficit en route to a 63-57 victory in non-conference play on Saturday afternoon in Williams Gymnasium. Brevard (3-5) won the battle on the glass by a 38-35 margin, including a 12-8 advantage on the offensive boards.
Sept. 6, 2012. After King joined Conference Carolinas in May 2011, the natural fit for a league rival seemed to be Lees-McRae College. As the 2011-12 season progressed, their play on the field proved to support that notion. Now the two institutions will add depth to their growing rivalry.
Aug. 3, 2012. Wilson joins the Bobcat coaching staff following a tremendous career as a track athlete at nearby Appalachian State University, where he competed in the pole vault, high jump, triple jump and long jump for the Mountaineers.
