Farmers’ markets all around the mountain region are gearing up for the 2013 summer to share their local wares with the residents and visitors that eagerly await the opening of the markets from the start of our famously harsh winters.

Nov. 7, 2012. Six educators from Watauga and Avery County schools and their teams were awarded Bright Ideas grants during a luncheon today at the Daniel Boone Inn by the Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corp. Bright Ideas grants are given as part their commitment to local education.

Oct. 31, 2012. The Arts Councils of Watauga, Ashe, Wilkes and Alleghany counties have recently announced the names of the artists who have been selected to receive this year’s Regional Artist Project Grants. This program has supported the work of more than 140 artists from the region with grants totaling over $88,000 during that time.
Aug. 7, 2012. Artists living in Watauga, Ashe, Alleghany and Wilkes counties are encouraged to submit grants applications for this year’s Regional Artist Project Grants. This year’s application deadline is Sept. 14, 2012. Grant awards generally range from $200 – $1,000.
