Photos: The 12th Man on the Field – The Fans; Third Highest Attendance in Appalachian State Football History

https://www.hcpress.com/?p=39556

Sept. 10, 2012. Appalachian State downed Montana 35-27 on Saturday in a thrilling matchup between two Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) powerhouses and avenged their 24-17 loss against the Grizzlies in the FCS semifinals back on Dec. 12, 2009.

The ASU players were spectacular, but so was ASU’s “12th man on the field,” the fans. All 30,856 in attendance (third most all time), were going wild from start to finish. It even felt a little bit like those magical championship years from 2005 to 2007.

Worthy of noting, ASU students get approximately the first 30 rows of seating. This makes the atmosphere at Kidd Brewer Stadium so electric and special. Many universities sell prime seating to boosters, but at ASU the students get the best seats.

After the win, many on the football team acknowledged their “12th man,” leaping into the stands to celebrate the victory. Check out our fan photos!
