She is survived by her two daughters, Marguerite “Peggy” Lou Chamberlain Hoefl and Susan Marie Chamberlain Shipe, their spouses, Bob and Lowell (NC), seven grandchildren: Paula (& Bobby) Huscroft (Texas), Debra Hoefl (Florida), Chrissie (& Rodney) Lee (Charlotte), Bobby (& Teresa) Hoefl (Charlotte), Marni (& Tom) Nicholas (Statesville), Mark (& Maria) Leach (Florida) and Michael Leach (Florida). Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by parents, husband, Lester Edward Johnson, grandson, Neal Taylor and two sisters. Mrs. Johnson attended the Ashe County Worship Center and she always had a green thumb when it came to gardening. She currently was working as a senior companion though the Appalachian Senior Program. Shane Allen Patrick left this world peacefully surrounded by many family and friends. His joyous laugh and boisterous spirit will be missed here on earth. As a boy, Shane learned the skill of stone masonry from his dad. He spent many warm evenings and weekends practicing his trade with his “happy pappy” and several other family members. On Friday nights in the fall Shane could be found playing football with the Beaver Creek High School Mighty Mighty Beavers. Number 32 loved the competition and being with the boys. Shane grew up hunting and fishing throughout Ashe County. His passion for bass fishing took him all over the state and southeast. He won several tournaments which were very special to him. The most special gift Shane left behind is his five year old daughter Lily. She shares her daddy’s sense of humor and his love for music. In the early morning hours of Sunday, June 10, 2012, Albert Pate Gambill, 79, passed from this life in the same way he had lived, quietly and simply. Born on May 12, 1933 in Mountain City, TN to Smith and Charlotte Gouge Gambill, Pate had lived most of his adult life in the Big Laurel community of Creston, NC. Until illness prohibited most of his activities, he attended Rainbow Mennonite Church in Mountain City. He was always a hard worker and spent 25 years at Blue Ridge Shoe Company in Mountain City before going to Charleston Forge in Boone, NC until his retirement 14 years ago. He spent recent years enjoying his great-grandchildren every chance he got. Always an outdoorsman, Pate enjoyed hunting and fishing and he took pride in his Cherokee heritage from his great-grandmother.
