Oct. 3, 2012. The Ashe County Farmers’ Market is very excited again this year to have the professionally certified barbecue judge and barbecue chef James E. Killian, a member of the Ashe County Farmers Market, to prepare and cook barbeque pork and barbeque chicken.
Sept. 13, 2012. Once again it is time for the “Apple Pie/Cobbler Contest” to be held on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at the Ashe County Farmers Market on the Back Street in West Jefferson. Look for the events tent on the grassy area just behind the market and bring your homemade pies or cobblers to be judged.
Sept. 6, 2012. On Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, at 10 am, the Ashe County Farmers’ Market is delighted to welcome author Jim Minick to their backstreet location in West Jefferson as part of the On the Same Page Literary Festival. The Festival, sponsored by the Ashe County Arts Council and the Ashe Public Library, is in its fifth year.
Aug. 27, 2012. The ACFM on the Backstreet West Jefferson will hold a “Cake Contest” on Saturday, Sept. 1. All cakes must be made from scratch. One winner from each category will be selected from the entries and awarded a $10 Ashe County Farmers’ Market gift certificate to be redemed at the market before the end of the 2012 market season.
Aug. 20, 2012. The Ashe County Farmers Market On the Backstreet in West Jefferson Presents Tomato/Salsa Contest Day on Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012. The contest is open to all residents of Ashe County. Judging for the Tomato Contest will take place at 10:30 a.m. and for the Salsa Contest at 11 a.m.
Aug. 7, 2012. Calling all quilters! Come to the Ashe County Farmers Market for a great day of learning the art of quilting and just plain fun from 9:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. Look for the Big Tent setup in the grassy area behind the shelter and bring your machine and a chair.
July 16, 2012. Calling all Ashe County Berry Pie and Berry Cobbler bakers – once again it is time for the “Berry Pie/Berry Cobbler Contest” to be held on Saturday, July 21 at the Ashe County Farmers Market on the Back Street in West Jefferson.
July 10, 2012. Ashe County Farmers’ Market will be open every Saturday from 8 a.m. til 1 p.m. until Saturday, October 27, and starting Wednesday, July 10 and running through Wednesday, September 23, the market will be open on Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The market is located on the Backstreet in downtown West Jefferson in Ashe County.
June 4, 2012. Children of all ages, bring your parents out for a fun filled day of learning and just plain fun at the Ashe County Farmers’ Market in West Jefferson. Again this year, Nancy Hoffman will have her loom and spinning wheel there to teach the children of all ages the art of spinning wool and how and what to use to die the yarn. Also, the great shearer Charlie Young will be there to demonstrate the art of shearing sheep.
