Appalachian Trail Celebrates 75th Anniversary in August
June 20, 2012. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the completion of the Appalachian Trail (A.T.), the longest hiking-only footpath in the world, measuring roughly 2,180 miles in length from Georgia to Maine. The anniversary will occur on Tuesday, August 14. The original Trail took more than 15 years to build and was completed on August 14, 1937.
