Gospel Summit Held Oct. 20-21 in Boone

Sept. 13, 2012. Area singers are invited to join the Appalachian State University Gospel Choir for a rehearsal Oct. 20 at Boone United Methodist Church. The rehearsal begins at 9 a.m. and will end at noon. The Summit Choir will perform in concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 21 at Boone United Methodist Church.

Student Health Service Receives AAAHC Reaccreditation

Sept. 6, 2012. M.S. Shook Student Health Service at Appalachian State University has achieved reaccreditation by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). Accreditation distinguishes the campus health clinic from many other outpatient facilities by providing the highest quality of care to its patients as determined by an independent, external process of evaluation.

Region’s Economy Improves During Past Three Months

Sept. 6, 2012. Western North Carolina’s economic health improved in July, posting a 0.4 point gain, marking the third monthly increase in a row and halting a two-month slide. The index, compiled by the Center for Economic Research & Policy Analysis at Appalachian State University, tracks the level of economic activity in 25 western North Carolina counties.

Appalachian to Recruit High School Students from China

July 25, 2012. Appalachian State University has established formal relationships with high schools in China as part of its international student recruitment effort. Dr. Jesse Lutabingwa, associate vice chancellor for international education and development, recently led a delegation from Appalachian to visit the Chinese high schools.
