May 25, 2012. Appalachian State University volleyball was recognized by PrepVolleyball.com on Thursday as bringing in one of the nation’s top recruiting classes for the upcoming 2012 season.

The Mountaineers, who advanced to the Southern Conference semifinals last season, were named as one of 30 teams to earn High Honorable Mention honors, joining teams from the ACC, BIG EAST, Pac- 12 and SEC.

“I’m honored that our hard work on the recruiting trail was recognized by PrepVolleyball.com this year,” said head coach Matt Ginipro. “Our 2012 class is a great one and we’re very excited to get them to Boone this summer as we prepare for the upcoming season. This will be another group of fun and exciting players our fans are really going to enjoy watching on the court.”

The incoming class includes Paige Brown (Overland Park, Kan./St. James Academy), Emily Corrigan (Johns Creek, Ga./Chattahoochee), Jess Keller (Swarthmore, Pa./Strath Haven), Hailey Kerr (Collierville, Tenn./Collierville) and Meghan Mahoney (Leawood, Kan./Blue Valley).

With the departure of five seniors from last year’s squad, the Apps will look to the group to help replace the production of a senior class that led ASU to a 21-11 record last season, including an impressive season-opening win over NC State.

Appalachian State was the only Southern Conference team to make the PrepVolleyball.com list of top recruiting classes.
