Sept. 30, 2013. Appalachian State University football will host Georgia State, Idaho, Louisiana-Monroe and South Alabama for Sun Belt Conference games in 2014, the league has officially announced.
In addition to the four conference home games, Appalachian State will travel to Arkansas State, Georgia Southern, Louisiana-Lafayette and Troy in 2014. With an eight-game conference schedule, Appalachian will not play New Mexico State or Texas State in its first Sun Belt campaign.
In non-conference play, the Mountaineers will open its first NCAA Division I FBS season at Michigan on Aug. 30, 2014 in a rematch of Appalachian State’s historic 34-32 victory over the No. 5-ranked Wolverines in 2007. One week later (Sept. 6), Appalachian hosts Campbell in its 2014 home opener. The Mountaineers still have two open dates to fill in their 2014 slate.
Per the Sun Belt’s television contracts, Appalachian State’s full 2014 schedule will not be released before March 1, 2014. Opponents and venues are subject to change until that time.
