Sugar Mountain Resort is closing for the season today.

The annual “Burning of the Snow,” which caps the 2016-17 season, will take place at 4 p.m. Mountain Creek, a bluegrass band, will perform in the cafeteria from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.

“Overall, it was a challenging winter weather season. But we are looking forward to a fun summer on Sugar and the hope for a snowy, cold winter next season,” Kim Jochl of Sugar Mountain Resort said.

One of the fun activities planned for this summer include the new event, The Sugar Mountain Summit Crawl and Classic Car Cruise-in, which the resort is hosting on Fourth of July weekend, Saturday, July 1, 2017.
