Jan. 3, 2013. App Terrain Park will kick off the seventh annual Shred for the Cup Series on Saturday, Jan. 5, with the Nordica/Never Summer Rail Jam. The Shred for the Cup series has become the benchmark park competition series in the region, with three events held throughout the winter that test skiers and snowboarders skills in several park disciplines (Rail Jam, Big Air and Slopestyle).
As always, the series has categories for all skill levels (beginner, intermediate, advanded) of both skiers and snowboarders, as well as a dedicated women’s category in both ski and board.
With the recent cold temperatures, natural snow, and ample snowmaking in all terrain parks, riders can count on a versatile, fun rail/box setup in either the Appal Jam or Appaljack Terrain Park for the event. Remember that points are given out for placement at each SFTC event, and are tallied throughout the season to determine the overall series winners that receive the coveted cups.
Riders can save money by registering for the entire series, as well as pre-registering before the day of the event. Stop by the ASM Main Office to Pre-Register and Save. A downloadable registration form is available here. All competitors receive lunch and Shred for the Cup Series T-shirts in addition to entry into the event.
Registration will be held in the Alpine Ski Shop (lower level of lodge) from 9 to 11 a.m. A warm up session will be available for competitors from 10:30 to 11:30 with a rider meeting at 11:45. The event is scheduled to begin at noon.
Free event spectator tickets will be available on event day, Jan. 5, at registration and at the main office and are required for slope access to watch the event without ski/snowboard equipment.
Tons of prizes are up for grabs in over 20 categories thanks to our event sponsors. Nordica and Never Summer are the SFTC Rail Jam Title sponsors, so expect lots of goods from these brands as well as contributing sponsors: Alpine Ski Shop, Armada, Atomic, Dakine, Electric, Full Tilt, Gnu, LibTech, Neff, Recess, Salomon, Scott, Skullcandy, Smith, Spyder, STZ and Volcom.
