June 5, 2013. North Carolina football coaches David Cutcliffe (Duke), Dave Doeren (NC State), Larry Fedora (North Carolina), Jim Grobe (Wake Forest), Ruffin McNeill (East Carolina) and Scott Satterfield (Appalachian State) will come together for one night in the name of charity. The inaugural North Carolina Coaches for Charity will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at the Hilton North Raleigh Hotel.
Fisher DeBerry, Carolina native and legendary former head football coach of the U.S. Air Force Academy, is hosting the event through the Fisher DeBerry Foundation. Proceeds raised are divided between the charities that each coach chooses to support.
“The state of North Carolina is blessed to have such wonderful football coaches,” said DeBerry, who coached at Appalachian State before moving on to the Air Force Academy. “This will be a fun and meaningful night, and a chance for football fans to mingle with all of the coaches. Getting all of these coaches together in one room doesn’t happen very often.”
Guests will be treated to a cocktail reception, a dinner program emceed by living legend and former “Voice of the Tar Heels” Woody Durham, entertainment, football highlight videos and comments from each of the coaches. The event also features live and silent auctions.
“As football coaches, we have a unique platform to help others,” said Wake Forest head football coach Jim Grobe, who coached under DeBerry at the Air Force Academy. “This will be a great night for football fans in our state. It is a chance for us to give back to the community together.”
Sponsor tables and individual tickets are now on sale for the event, but are limited. The more tickets and tables purchased by fans of each of the schools, the more money that will go towards that particular coach’s charity.
