Richard T. Trundy Memorial Cup Morning of Sunday , March 8 at Sugar Mountain Resort

Sugar Mountain Resort’s annual Richard T. Trundy Memorial Sugar Cup takes place Sunday, March 8.

It begins at 9 a.m. at Oma’s Meadow, with registration between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m. at the base lodge. The entry fee is $15, all of which goes to the American Cancer Society in memory of Richard T. Trundy.

The event features a slalom competition, with skiers and snowboarders of all skill levels being invited to compete.

Richard Trundy was a two-star general in the Marine Corps, who worked as Sugar Mountain’s Director of Operations later in his life. He was known as an easygoing, personable presence around the mountain, who got along with everyone and loved to ski himself. The event has been in his name since the early 2000’s.

“He really had an impact on Sugar Mountain Resort,” said Kim Jochl, Marketing Director for Sugar Mountain.

With good weather on the horizon Sunday, a good turnout and fun time is expected. So get out and support a good cause.
