According to CollegeAD.org, University of Missouri Deputy Athletic Director Doug Gillin will become Appalachian State University’s next athletic director.
“We are told, Marcy Girton, Texas A&M Chief of Staff pulled out of the search and Interim AD, Rick Beasley was told yesterday that he was no longer a candidate. We are working on full confirmation,” according to CollegeAD.org.
The Appalachian State University Board of Trustees will meet in closed session on Friday at 11 a.m. to consider a new employee and discuss contract terms.
The Kansas City Star reported that Gillin has been deputy athletic director since May 1, 2012 and oversaw “external operations for MU athletics [which] included the Tiger Scholarship Fund, ticketing, strategic communications, Mizzou Sports Properties and game operations.
According to his bio on the Missouri Athletics official website, Gillin has also spent the past decade working in various roles with IMG College, which holds the multi-media rights for dozens of collegiate athletics programs, including Appalachian State University.
In August 2014, former App State AD Charlie Cobb left for Georgia State University. Beasley, ASU’s deputy athletic director at the time of Cobb’s resignation, is the current interim athletic director.
