Beech Mountain Resort hosted its annual Banked Slalom race Saturday afternoon on Robbins Run.
The competition included 86 skiers and snowboarders that ranged in ages from 8 to 53. All competitors were tested with challenging course conditions due to an early morning rain storm.
The top Men’s Master Snowboard race was swept by Jeff Johnson (Sugar Grove, NC) with a time of 21.57 and Eve Parsons (Boone, NC) with a time of 31.6.
13-year-old Blake Broussard (Banner Elk, NC) cruised to victory in the 14 and Under Boy’s Snowboard category, with a time of 22.52, while 12-year-old Dayton Pederick (Mauldin, SC) claimed the win in the 14 and Under Boy’s Ski category with a time of 22.811.
Morgan Hale (Beech Mountain, NC) won the Women’s 18-34 Ski race with a time of 25.59 while Travis McKay (Asheville, NC) dueled the seven competitors in the Men’s 18-34 Ski race with a mark of 19.11.
