Feb. 28, 2014. On Saturday, March 1, Appalachian Ski Mtn will host the 5th annual Recess wRECklESS Rail Jam.
The event will be held as a Jam Format Rail Jam for both ski and snowboard. There will be divisions for beginner, intermediate, advanced and ladies divisions as well. All skill levels and spectators are welcome.
“The way it works is that we are going to be doing divisions, but everyone rides at the same time,” said Ashley Pardy of RECESS Skate and Snow. “There will be features set up and you are allotted a certain amount of time. It’s an open competition and you are judged on the tricks that you do on the features.”
This is a cash prize event, with each participant’s $15 entry fee going toward the purse, plus an additional $500 from RECESS.
“The cash purse is always pretty large, and we have some really great prizes out there,” Pardy said. “It’s a great time and its a fun set up. It’s definitely something different.”
In addition to the competition, there will be a huge raffle and prizes from all sponsors of the event. Red Bull and DJ Overcash will be onsite providing entertainment.
Around 100 participants are expected to attend this annual event.
“This year is the first year we are offering preregistration, so I think that will help out a lot,” Pardy said.
Preregistration will be held at Recess on Wednesday, Feb. 25 through Friday, Feb. 28. Day of registration will be from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at Appalachian Ski Mtn. The contest will officially begin at 12:30 p.m.
