Appalachian will get its season started when it hosts the Covered Bridge Open on Aug. 31 in Boone before hosting the Mountaineer Open on Sept. 14. ASU will then hit the road for three-straight meets beginning with the Winthrop Invite on Sept. 15. The Mountaineers will split the squads two weeks later (Sept. 28) when part of each team heads north to the Keystone State for the Paul Short Run in Bethlehem, Pa., while the other halves run at Charlotte’s 49er Invite.
Appalachian returns home on Oct. 12 for the Blue Ridge Open to close out the regular season as it prepares for the 2012 Southern Conference Championships in Mt. Pleasant, S.C. on Oct. 27.
A solid showing by the Mountaineers at the SoCon Championships could send several athletes to the NCAA Southeast Regional in Charlotte on Nov. 9 to compete for a spot in the NCAA Division I Championships in Louisville, Ky. on Nov. 17.
