In preparation for Appalachian State University football’s historic sold-out home contest against five-time national champion Miami (Fla.), Appalachian State athletics will be hosting a Miami Pep Rally in Peacock Parking Lot on Friday, Sept. 16 from 6-10 p.m.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to kick off what should be a truly incredible weekend in Boone with this event and the game on Saturday against Miami,” Director of Athletics Doug Gillin said. “This will be a historic time for the University and the community, and the Miami pep rally will be a fantastic way for fans to get excited about the game.”
In partnership with the Town of Boone, Boone Area Chamber of Commerce, University Foundation and the Chancellor’s Office, the pep rally will be free for all to attend and will include appearances from head coach Scott Satterfield and team captains Marcus Cox, John Law, Parker Collins and Kennan Gilchrist, as well as live performances from “Soul Benefactor” and “Arson Daily.”
“Appalachian athletics has deeply loyal fans of all ages. This is an excellent opportunity to build on that excitement and bring our campus and town together to celebrate the Mountaineer spirit, support Appalachian’s student-athletes, enjoy the challenge of competition and show pride for our university,” Chancellor Sheri N. Everts said. “GO APPS!”
The event will also include food vendors, photo booths, a bouncy house and more for fans of all ages to enjoy throughout the evening. Fans should note that the entire Peacock Parking Lot will be closed for pedestrian traffic only and alcohol tailgating policies will be in effect for the entirety of the Pep Rally.
Parking will be available in the Rivers Street Parking Deck, Stadium Lot, Schaefer Center Lot and along King Street. Gameday towing will still begin at 6 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17 so no vehicles should be left parked overnight.
