Aug. 26, 2013. The App State football squad has a few more days until they travel to Missoula, Mont., to face the Montana Grizzlies on Saturday, Aug. 31, at 9 p.m. EST.
During a live teleconference, App State quarterback Jamal Londry-Jackson noted that he was excited to play in Washington-Grizzly Stadium, one of the best FCS venues in the country and one that has a loud and passionate fan base – just like ASU.
“We’ve never got a win in Missoula. There’s definitely a big asterisk. We just got to work hard. Both are great teams with storied histories,” Londry-Jackson said. “It’s going to be a good one. It’s going to be a fun one.”
Appalachian State Mountaineers’ preseason rank is No. 12 while Montana Grizzlies’ preseason ranking is No. 20.
The upcoming matchup marks the fourth time that the FCS powers have faced one another and wraps up a two game home-and-home series between the two squads.
[It] is one of the most anticipated contests of Appalachian’s final FCS season,” AppStateSports.com noted in a recent release, adding that App State lost “heartbreakers” to the Griz in the 2000 and 2009 playoffs before winning in Boone last September.
While the game is sold out, it will be televised on ESPN 3.
