Lees-McRae Men’s Soccer Team Signs Jordan Wright of West Lothian, Scotland for Fall 2013 Season

June 1, 2013. Jordan Wright (West Lothian, Scotland) has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Lees-McRae College and play men’s soccer in the fall of 2013, announced head coach Lee Squires on Monday.

“I have been very patient in waiting for the right striker to come along,” explained Squires. “Jordan is a highly motivated student-athlete who I believe will be a great fit for us and contribute right away. It is no secret we struggled for goals last season and Jordan will add to that for sure.”

The West Lothian, Scotland native brings an impressive resume with him to Lees-McRae, having represented his nation on Scotland’s National Team and scoring within the opening minute in the squad’s 5-2 victory over England.

“I chose Lees-McRae because it offers a wonderful program for soccer as well as providing the right facilities to attain high academic grades,” said   Wright. “It is also a private college and situated in the beautiful state of North Carolina.”

Wright began his club career with Raith Rovers Football Club, playing for Rovers’ U-17 and U-19 teams. As a member of the U-19 squad, Wright tallied 15 goals in 20 league games to help Rovers finish second in the league table. The 6-3, 190-pound forward has also played for Airdrie United, as well as Dundee United.

“Jordan has great height, but is also very mobile and a good athlete,” praises Squires. “His technique and quality on the ball is top drawer, and I am looking forward to seeing what he can do for us. He adds a different dimension going forward and will complement the players around him.”

Wright rounds out a strong recruiting class for the Bobcats that includes Alex Hasler, Marvyn Rieger, Taylor Morton, Chris Mullins, Brett Martin, Yago Xavier, Patterson Towles, Avery Varley, Daniel Harris and Isauro Estrada.
