Kerrigan Jumps to Eighth in Nation in Assists

Oct. 10, 2012. INDIANAPOLIS — Junior Kaitlyn Kerrigan (Lakewood Ranch, Fla.) is ranked eighth in the nation in assist per match, and the Lees-McRae College women’s soccer team is listed in seven individual and team categories in this week’s edition of the NCAA Division II women’s soccer statistics.

Lees-McRae (7-3-1, 6-1 CC) has been on a roll of late, entering the week on a four-match winning streak to claim the top spot in the Conference Carolinas standings. The Bobcats begin the week ranked 21st in the nation in scoring offense (2.73) and 45th in goals against average (0.813), while also ranking 59th in winning percentage (0.682).

Kerrigan added to her assist total with a pair of helpers last week, equaling her mark from last season and moving up to ninth in the nation with eight setups this fall. The junior midfielder is also ranked eighth in helpers per match (0.73), up from 14th last week. MaryBeth Sullivan (Greensboro, N.C.) begins the week ranked 28th in the nation in both assists per match (0.55) and total helpers (six), while freshman Sarah Mahar (Jacksonville, Fla.) is listed 28th with three match-winners this season.

Sophomore goalkeeper Kaitlyn Briggs (Oviedo, Fla.) enters the week ranked 58th in the nation in goals against average (0.885), while freshman Erica Allen (Norton, Ohio) is listed 76th with a pair of match-winners this fall.

Lees-McRae returns to the pitch on Wednesday when the Bobcats host Limestone College in a pivotal league tilt at 5 p.m. on Tate Field.
