In Support of National Learn-to-Ski and Snowboard Month, Beech Mountain Resort Offers Affordable Options

Dec. 30, 2013. According to the National Ski Area Association, around four percent of Americans ski or snowboard. Beech Mountain Resort is hoping to increase that percentage.

imgresJanuary is National Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month, a national movement to help increase the participation in ski and snowboard lessons. Beech Mountain Resort is in full support of this initiative and is encouraging first-time skiers and snowboarders to join the fun in the snow.

In addition to the physical health benefits, skiing and snowboarding promote mental wellness during the winter months by keeping people active. Talia Freeman, Beech Mountain Resort’s Marketing Director, believes the low number of winter-sport participants is often attributed to the perceived high cost of the sport combined with the intimidation of trying something new and different.

“The goal for us is to provide affordable options for newcomers to try these sports. by increasing the accessibility of lessons and stressing their importance during the month of January,” Freeman said. “We hope to increase participation and improve the overall health and fitness of our fellow citizens.”

Beech Mountain Resort is committed to providing affordable options for newcomers to try these sports, Freeman said. In order to support National Learn to Ski Month, we are once again offering the “Learn to Ski” package for only $45.

The package will run in January and includes a mid-week (Monday through Friday) lift ticket, equipment rental, helmet rental and a first time beginner lesson. This package is available for beginners ages 8 and up only. Reservations are required, so please call ahead.

Additionally, you can learn to ski and stay with our Skiing 101 Package. This special package is available every weekday in January for $101 per person. In an effort to further promote this month, Beech Mountain Resort is offering the third annual Learn to Ski Poster Contest for third through fifth graders.
