Galvani, Hudgins Earn All-Conference Carolinas Honors

Nov. 2, 2012. HIGH POINT, N.C. — Lees-McRae College junior James Galvani (High Wycombe, England) earned a spot on the all-Conference Carolinas Men’s Soccer team for the third straight season Thursday, garnering second team honors as fellow junior Scott Hudgins (Fort Myers, Fla.) was named to the third team for the first time in his career.

Co-Conference Carolinas regular season champions Limestone College and Coker College paced the league with nine and seven all-conference selections, respectively, as Queens University of Charlotte and Erskine College each placed five players on the teams.

Galvani put together a strong start to the campaign before his season was cut short due to injury, posting four goals in 12 matches. The High Wycombe, England native found the back of the net on three occasions in conference play, netting the winner at North Greenville before tallying the decisive extra time strike against Coker.

Hudgins enjoyed a solid junior season with the Bobcats this fall, tallying one goal and helping Lees-McRae keep three clean sheets in league play. A native of Fort Myers, Fla., Hudgins scored a clutch goal at Queens on September 22, leveling proceedings in the 82nd minute to lead the Bobcats back from 2-0 down.

Lees-McRae is expected to return 19 lettermen from this year’s squad, including rising seniors Rusling, Hudgins, James Galvani (High Wycombe, England), Brandon Meade (Mocksville, N.C.), and Chris DeSanto(Greensboro, N.C.).
