Dec. 7, 2012. SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Courtney Freeman, a senior guard for the Mountaineers, has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for December 5, the league office announced today.
Freeman became the 22nd player in Appalachian State history to score 1,000 career points when she poured in 24 in a win over Georgia Southern on Monday. She also added nine rebounds in the win and shot 10-of-10 from the charity stripe. The senior also scored 24 points on 10-of-20 shooting and had eight rebounds in an overtime win against Xavier on November 30.
The Carlton, Ga., native holds a 3.79 GPA in Health Care Management and is on track to graduate in December. Freeman plans to continue on with her MBA studies.
