Fourteenth Annual Stick Boy Bread Company Mayview Madness 5K Race and Fun Run Held Saturday, Sept. 21

Aug. 15, 2013. The 14th annual Stick Boy Bread Company Mayview Madness 5K race and Kids 1 Mile Fun Run will be on Saturday, Sept. 21 in Blowing Rock adjacent to the American Legion Hall in downtown Blowing Rock. The race will benefit the Blue Ridge Conservancy (BRC) and its mission to permanently protect land and water resources with agricultural, ecological, cultural, recreational and scenic value in northwest North Carolina. Blue Ridge Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine (BRPAM) is sponsoring the 1 Mile Kids Run. Both BRPAM and BRC are dedicated to getting children outside and active.

“We are excited to add Blue Ridge Pediatrics as our Kids Race sponsor,” said Rob McCorkindale, BRC’s Director of Development and Communications. “This race has always been a family friendly event and we really want to see it grow for both kids and adults.”

Blue Ridge Conservancy is a private, nonprofit, nongovernmental organization incorporated in North Carolina. Since our founding, we have protected close to 16,000 acres in Alleghany, Ashe, Avery, Mitchell, Watauga, Wilkes and Yancey Counties. In addition to protecting working farmland, BRC’s efforts have resulted in the creation of state natural areas like Beech Creek Bog, Bear Paw and Bullhead Mountain. We continue to help Elk Knob State Park expand its borders and in 2008 we led the way in establishing a 2,000-acre State Game Land preserve on Pond Mountain in Ashe County.
