April 28, 2014. Former Appalachian State University quarterback and college-football legend Armanti Edwards worked out for the Super Bowl champs Seattle Seahawks last Thursday, according to Adam Caplan of EPSN.com.

Edwards was selected in the third round of 2010 draft by the Carolina Panthers, which released him last October after playing in a total of 39 games, where he caught five passes for 121 yards and returned 36 punts for 253 yards, averaging seven yards per punt in his career as a Panther. He also averaged 19.7 yards per kick on 15 kickoffs.

The Cleveland Browns then picked him up in free agency, reuniting him with former Browns coach Rob Chudzinsky, a former offensive coordinator for the Panthers. But that reunion didn’t last long as the Browns released him last December. He had been placed on injured reserve prior to being waived.

Now, Edwards as a chance at becoming a Seahawk and playing before the “12th man.”

As NBCSports.com reported, “Seattle needs a new punt returner after Golden Tate signed with the Detroit Lions this offseason. Edwards has returned 40 punts for 281 yards in four years with Cleveland and the Carolina Panthers. That could be the angle of interest for Seattle in Edwards in addition to his receiving ability.”
