Retired Air Force Staff Sgt. Michael Scoggin, who currently attends App State and served four tours in Iraq, Afghanistan and Kuwait, and his wife, Amber, are the recipients of a new sedan.

At halftime during Thursday night’s football game between the Mountaineers and Arkansas State, Discovery Chevrolet Buick GMC, which was formerly Mack Brown Chevrolet Buick GMC before being bought by a new owner, donated a Chevy sedan to the Scoggins, while Wells Fargo Dealer Services donated three years of pre-paid gas and maintenance.

In 2010, Scoggin was injured by an IED (improvised explosive device) at close range, and a year later, he experienced a rocket attack while serving at Kandahar Airfield. He received Air Force Achievement Medal, Meritorious Unit Award, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with Three Campaign Stars, and Afghanistan Campaign Medal, among others.

The donation was made through the Military Warriors Support Foundation’s Transportation4Heroes program, which helps provide veterans with reliable transportation. Thursday night’s game at Kidd Brewer Stadium was dubbed “Heroes Day” and military, law enforcement and EMS personnel received free tickets to the game.

“Wells Fargo Dealer Services, Discovery Chevrolet Buick GMC, and the Military Warriors Support Foundation are committed to helping veterans who are wounded while serving their country,” according to release announcing the donation.
