After rushing for a season-high 153 yards, three touchdowns and setting Appalachian State’s all-time rushing mark on Saturday in the Mountaineers’ 42-17 victory over ULM, Marcus Cox (Dacula,Ga./Dacula) was named the Sun Belt’s Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week.

For Cox, it’s the second Student-Athlete of the Week award this season (9/10/16 – Old Dominion), while it’s the 10th of his career and the fifth Student-Athlete of the Week Award for App State this season.

Cox passed Kevin Richardson (4,804 yards) to stamp his name in the record book as the school’s all-time rushing leader. The senior tailback now has 4,280 career yards and counting, while with two games left and 732 yards on the ground this season, can still become the program’s only student-athlete to ever reach at least 1,000 yards rushing in all four seasons.

In addition, Cox recorded his 27th career 100-yard game and his 49th, 50th, and 51st career rushing touchdowns, which is third on App’s career list.

Against ULM, Cox averaged 7.3 yards per carry on 21 rushes including a long of 28 yards that led to him breaking the mark. Since returning from injury, Cox has averaged 109 ypg with six touchdowns.  His 11 rushing touchdowns marks the third time in four season he has at least 10 rushing touchdowns and the first time since the 2014 campaign when he ran for 19.

Cox and the Mountaineers will finish the regular season against New Mexico State on Saturday at 4 p.m. (ET) in Las Cruces, N.M.
