Tickets Still Available for App State Football’s 2014 Home Opener Versus Campbell Saturday

Sept. 3, 2014. The decades long wait for NCAA Division I FBS football to come to Kidd Brewer Stadium ends on Saturday when Appalachian State University football hosts Campbell in the 2014 home opener. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.

Ticket sales were brisk throughout the day on Tuesday but reserved seats still remain for Saturday’s home opener. Tickets can now be purchased online, 24 hours a day, at appstatesports.com/tickets. Tickets can also be purchased by phone at (828) 262-2079 or in person at the Appalachian State athletics ticket office, located at the Holmes Center, between 9 a.m.-4 p.m. through Friday.

Online sales for Appalachian State student guest tickets remain unavailable due to a network-wide outage sustained by Appalachian’s web provide, Neulion. To purchase student guest tickets, App State students can call the App State ticket office at (828) 262-2079 or visit the ticket office in person at the Holmes Center between 9 a.m.-4 p.m. through Friday.

Special ticket promotions for Saturday’s home opener include:

HEROES DAY: As part of Appalachian State’s Heroes Day festivities, ALL military personnel and first responders (with valid ID) will receive a FREE ticket toSaturday’s game. In addition, family members of military personnel and first responders are invited to attend at a discounted rate of $17 per ticket. To reserve complimentary and discounted Heroes Day tickets, call the Appalachian State athletics ticket office at (828) 262-2079 or visit the ticket office in person at the Holmes Center between 9 a.m.-4 p.m. through Friday.

FACULTY/STAFF APPRECIATION DAY: As part of Faculty/Staff Appreciation Day, all Appalachian State faculty and staff members can purchase an unlimited number of tickets for Saturday’s home opener at the discounted rate of $15 per ticket. To purchase tickets at the Faculty/Staff Appreciation Day rate, call the Appalachian State athletics ticket office at (828) 262-2079 or visit the ticket office in person at the Holmes Center between 9 a.m.-4 p.m. through Friday.

In addition, Appalachian State’s staff senate will hold a staff appreciation tailgate party from 2-6 p.m. on Saturday at the Kidd Brewer Stadium Ticket Plaza. All Appalachian staff members are invited to stop by for free food and drinks and a drawing for door prizes.

DAVID GLENN SHOW BIG TAILGATE TOUR COMING TO THE ROCK: The David Glenn Show will bring its Big Tailgate Tour, presented by Continental Tire, to Boone for Saturday’s Appalachian State-Campbell clash.

Hosted by David Glenn and Hayes Permar of the popular David Glenn Show, which airs from noon-3 p.m. every weekday across North Carolina, the Big Tailgate Tour will make stops at college football games across the state this fall. After opening the season at East Carolina last week, the Big Tailgate Tour comes to The Rock on Saturday, followed by trips to North Carolina, NC State, Duke and Wake Forest later in the season.

The Big Tailgate Tour will be set up at the KBS Ticket Plaza from 3-6:30 p.m. on Saturday evening. In addition to meeting with fans, Glenn and Permar will offer passers-by the chance to win prizes from Continental Tire and other sponsors.

SPOTLESS TAILGATE OF THE GAME CONTEST: With the return of football season to the High Country comes the return of the G&B and Appalachian Energy Spotless Tailgate of the Game contest.

During each Appalachian State home football game this fall, fans are encouraged to combine their tailgate creativity with a commitment to properly maintain their gameday location. Once tailgating begins, volunteers will make their way through designated parking lots to hand out bags for trash and recycling while taking note of the locations that have gone the extra mile to ensure their location is clean and green. The tailgate sites that exhibit the best implementation of these concepts will be nominated for the Spotless Tailgate of the Game by volunteers in their lot. A weekly winner will be selected from the list of nominees.

To help catch the eye of nominators, tailgaters are are encouraged to post pictures of their green tailgate on social media using the hashtag #TailgateApp.

Each week’s winner will receive and Appalachian State Mountaineers Tailgate Prize Pack and be entered in to the Tailgate of the Year competition, where the winner will receive a brand new grill from G&B and Appalachian Energy. A photo of the week’s winning froup will also be displayed on the App State TV Videoboard during the game as they are recognized for their tailgating cleanliness.
