Casa Rustica’s 7th Annual Charity Golf Tournament on Aug. 15 Raises Over $15,000 for Local Charities

Aug. 27, 2013. The 7th Annual Casa Rustica Charity Golf Tournament, held at Boone Golf Club, raised over $15,000 for local charities Blowing Rock C.A.R.E.S. and the High Country Caregiver Foundation. The $15,000 was split evenly between the two organizations.

At this year’s tournament, which was a four man captain’s choice, hosted more than 170 players and hundreds of spectators at the Boone Golf Club.

“The tournament was great,” said Rick Pedroni, who organized the event. “We raised a lot of money for some really deserving charities, and that feels great.”

Since the early 2000′s Rick and his wife, Elizabeth, have been deeply involved with charity work in the High Country.

We saw so many people like us in the community that wanted to help out but didn’t know what to do. This is a great avenue for people to help when all they have to do is play a round of golf.”

But that’s not even the most exciting part. Pedroni is excited to announce that this tournament marked $100,000 raised for local charities since the tournament first began seven years ago.

“It appears as though we’ve reached around $100,000 over seven years,” Pedroni said.

“Over seven years we have made a lot of friendships and consider a lot of people family.”

Pedroni would like to thank all of the participants, sponsors, volunteers and local businesses who donated time, prizes and more to make the day possible.

“My wife and I put a lot of work into this, but there are a lot of people who help us do this that aren’t even mentioned. We look forward to seeing them all again in 2014!”

And for those wondering, yes, the Casa Rustica Charity Golf Tournament can be counted on for yet another year of fundraising for worthy organizations.

“The community has given me and my family a lot,” Pedroni said. “I can’t see myself doing anything but this.”
