Boone Area Outdoor Recreation Summit Slated for Thursday, April 6 at Harvest House

Destination by Design is hosting the 2017 Boone Area Outdoor Recreation Summit on Thursday, April 6 at the Harvest House Performing Arts Venue from 5 to 8:30 p.m.

A community social begins at 5 p.m. and the program will take place from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

Vendors include Farm-to-Flame Taco Bar, recreation organizations and local nonprofits. In addition to the free taco bar, local brewers Appalachian Mountain Brewery and CideryBoondocks Brewing Tap Room & Restaurant, Booneshine Brewing Company, Inc. and Lost Province Brewing Co. will provide free samples of the new Northern Peaks Trail Beer Series.  

The program will exhibit the plan to develop the Northern Peaks Trail, which will connect the downtowns of Boone and West Jefferson, and also provide updates on the Middle Fork GreenwayRocky Knob Mountain Bike Park, Pisgah Mountain Biking and the state of tourism development in the High Country.

The first local Outdoor Recreation Summit occurred several years ago. In 2010, Watauga County hosted the first Outdoor Recreation Summit to launch the Outdoor Recreation Master Plan. The plan unveiled key projects such as Rocky Knob Park, Watauga Gorge Park, and the Middle Fork Greenway.
