Dec. 2, 2014. Boone Area Cyclists will host the annual Holiday Party on Dec. 9 at 6 p.m. at Bistro Roca in Blowing Rock, which has generously donated space and food for the party for several years. Appalachian Mountain Brewery, Blowing Rock Brewing Company and Flat Top Brewing Company are also donating beers for the event. Tickets for food and drink are $10 for members and $15 for non-members.
The event will feature great food and drink as always, but this year, BAC is raffling off several high dollar cycling-related items including a Garmin Edge 510 bike computer, a Giant Dropper Seatpost with WTB seat, and a free entry into next year’s Blood, Sweat and Gears Hat Trick with all three rides. You must be a member to participate in the raffle and you must be present to win. Each member in good standing will receive one free raffle ticket with event admission, but additional tickets will be available for purchase at one for $5 or three for $10.
Starting this year, each member who joins or renews for 2015 will receive a BAC membership card that is good for discounts at various local businesses, including Boone Bike and Touring, Magic Cycles, Breath of Life Healing Arts Massage and Bodywork, Local Lion, ReGear, Appalachian Mountain Brewery, Meanie’s, Our Daily Bread, Banner Elk Cafe/The Lodge, Dunn’s Deli (Banner Elk), Flat Top Brewery (Banner Elk), Pedalin’ Pig BBQ, Black Cat Burrito and Haircut 101. Discounts offered by each business vary, so check BooneAreaCyclists.com for more details. Members must present their cards in order to claim the discounts.
The time to join or renew for 2015 and take advantage of these benefits is now! Membership runs from January through December each year, but you can join or renew for 2015 anytime after Oct. 1. New members receive a BAC t-shirt and renewing members can buy t-shirts at a discount. All members also receive a BAC sticker and access to an active biking, racing and advocacy community. Memberships are $25 for individuals, $35 for families and $100 for sustaining members. If you joined before Oct. 1, your membership is valid until Dec. 31, but you will need to renew for 2015 to receive your membership discount card.
