Beech Mountain Resort Hosts 2014 USAC Mountain Bike National Championship Oct. 24-26; See Schedule Here

Oct. 23, 2014. Beech Mountain Resort will host the upcoming USAC Mountain Bike National Championship to take place Oct. 24-26.

The national competition is for collegiate athletes in Division I and II schools and will feature several disciplines including downhill, cross-country, short track cross-county, team relay and dual slalom. This year will mark the return of the co-ed team relay, a rider and fan favorite in the event’s debut last year.

The races will bring in nearly 350 students from 50 colleges and universities.

“We hosted this race last year as well, and this is the fourth year that we have hosted a national race with USA Cycling,” said Talia Freeman, Marketing Director for Beech Mountain Resort.

“They like the consistency and quality of the races we are able to produce, and we have a beautiful setting for these races.”

The schedule of events for the championship is as follows:

Thursday, Oct. 23

  • 3-6 p.m. – Registration and packet pick up
  • 3-6 p.m. – Downhill walking inspection
  • 3-6 p.m. – Cross country practice
  • 6:15 p.m. – Participant meeting

Friday, Oct. 24

  • 7 a.m. – 3 p.m. – Cross country practice
  • 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. – Dual slalom practice
  • 8 a.m. – Short track cross county male division I
  • 8:45 a.m. – Short track cross county male division II
  • 9:30 a.m. – Short track cross country female division I
  • 10:15 a.m. – Short track cross country female division II
  • 11 a.m. – Downhill practice
  • 3:30 p.m. – Downhill seeding male division I
  • Following – Downhill seeding male division II
  • Following – Downhill seeding female division I
  • Following – Downhill seeding female division II

Saturday, Oct. 25

  • 7:30-8:15 a.m. – Cross country practice
  • 8-9:30 a.m. – Packet pick up
  • 8:30 a.m. – Cross country male division I
  • 8:40 a.m. – Cross country male division II
  • 11:30 a.m. – Cross country female division I
  • 11:40 a.m. – Cross country female division II
  • 4 p.m. – Downhill male division I
  • Following – Downhill male division II
  • Following – Downhill female division I
  • Following – Downhill female division II
  • 7 p.m. – Awards banquet
  • 8 p.m. – Short track cross country, cross country and downhill awards presentation

Sunday, Oct. 26

  • 7:30-8:30 a.m. – Packet pick up
  • 7:30-8:45 a.m. – Dual slalom practice
  • 9 a.m. – Dual slalom qualifying – all divisions
  • 11 a.m. – Team relay mixed division I
  • 11 a.m. – Team relay mixed division II
  • 12:30 p.m. – Dual slalom male division I
  • Following – Dual slalom male division II
  • Following – Dual slalom female division I
  • Following – Dual slalom female division II
  • Following – Team relay and dual slalom awards
