Dec. 19, 2012. With a very positive snowmaking forecast projected from Thursday night through early next week, Appalachian Ski Mountain plans to take full advantage of cold temperatures and open as much terrain as possible for skiing and snowboarding on Saturday, Dec. 22.

Temperatures are expected to fall into the low 20s Thursday night, and should allow for round-the-clock snowmaking potentially through Sunday. Look for additional terrain to open as soon as possible; there is a chance that Appalachian could have a majority of slopes open by Sunday.

App Terrain Park plans to provide riders with some mellow, fun rail & box options which will be setup daily while we capitalize on the forecasted snowmaking window.

ATP & Recess will host the Rome Pre-Jib snowboard competition on Sunday, Dec. 23. This is one of 10 Pre-Jib events hosted in the U.S. and Canada, with huge prizes up for grabs and a free entry with valid lift ticket. Click here for more event information.

Ice-skating will continue on a regular schedule, with three session offered daily at noon, 2:30 and 7 p.m.

Santa will be on the slopes Christmas Eve, Dec. 24 from 1 to 4 p.m. Don’t miss your chance to see and talk to the big guy!
