In his 39 game appearances with the Panthers, Edwards clocked a total 121-yards and five receptions with 25.2 average receiving yards per reception over three seasons with the Carolina Panthers.

Carolina picked up Edwards in the third round as the No. 89 overall draft pick of the 2010 National Football League draft with the prospect of melding Edwards into a wide receiver and return-specialist.

Ron Rivera, the Panthers’ head coach, named Edwards the MVP at training camp this year.

Edwards is best known for leading Appalachian State University in one of the biggest upsets in college football over No. 5 Michigan at “The Big House,” in 2007.

Edwards also brought the Mountaineers to two national titles during his tenure at ASU.
